3 Business Lessons... I Wish I Learned Earlier

September 20, 2024

As I look back on my journey to where I am now, I can't help but think about the lessons I wish I had known earlier. It took me longer than it should have to get here, and I want to share these insights with you so that you can avoid making the same mistakes I did. Here are the three lessons that stand out to me the most:

Lesson 1: Success is 99% Internal

I used to believe that success was all about tactics and strategies. I wanted to know the "how-to" and "step-by-step" of achieving success. But I soon realized that mindset is the most critical component of success. Self-talk and limiting beliefs hold us back, and we need to be aware of them to make progress. I wish I had paid more attention to this area earlier on in my journey. Here's what I learned:

Mindset is Everything

Our thoughts and beliefs shape our reality. If we believe we can't achieve something, we won't even try. On the other hand, if we believe we can achieve it, we'll take action towards it. We need to work on our mindset consistently, and that means focusing on the following:

  • Positive self-talk: We need to replace negative self-talk with positive affirmations. When we tell ourselves we're capable, we'll feel more confident and motivated to take action.
  • Letting go of limiting beliefs: We need to identify and challenge our limiting beliefs. We often hold ourselves back with beliefs that aren't even true. By letting go of them, we can open ourselves up to new opportunities and experiences.

Lesson 2: Cost vs. Investment

For the longest time, I viewed any money I spent on my business as a cost that I couldn't afford. But the truth is, investing in yourself and your business is one of the best things you can do. Here's what I wish I had known earlier:

Invest in Yourself and Your Business

When we invest in ourselves and our business, we're making an investment in our future. We need to shift our mindset from viewing expenses as costs to viewing them as investments. Here are some areas where you can invest in yourself and your business:

  • Education and training: We need to continuously learn and improve our skills. Investing in education and training can help us become better at what we do.
  • Tools and resources: We need to have the right tools and resources to support our business. Investing in software, equipment, and other resources can help us be more efficient and productive.
  • Mentorship and coaching: We can learn a lot from people who have already achieved what we want to achieve. Investing in mentorship and coaching can provide guidance, support, and accountability.

Lesson 3: The Ultimate Cheat Code to Success is Getting a Coach

I used to think that I could figure everything out on my own. But I soon realized that the problems I couldn't see were the worst kind of problems. Here's what I learned:

Get a Coach

A coach can provide guidance, resources, support, and accountability, which are all crucial elements to achieving success. They can help us see blind spots, identify areas for improvement, and provide a roadmap for achieving our goals. Here are some reasons why you should consider hiring a coach:

  • Accountability: A coach can hold us accountable for taking action towards our goals. They can help us stay on track and make progress.
  • Support: A coach can provide emotional support and motivation when we're feeling discouraged or stuck.
  • Expertise: A coach has expertise and experience in the area we want to improve. They can provide guidance and resources that we wouldn't have access to otherwise.

These three powerful lessons that this individual learned on their journey to success. Take these lessons to heart, and don't make the same mistakes they did.

Remember that success is primarily internal, so focus on your mindset and self-talk. And when it comes to investing in yourself and your business, think of it as an investment rather than a cost. Lastly, don't hesitate to hire a coach to help guide you on your journey to success. With these lessons in mind, you can achieve the success you desire.
